Mrs. Winderbank-Lucas

I was born in London, England, but I am not a member of the royal family!

I taught for five years in an elementary school in Rustington, on the south coast of England, before going to Hungary to teach English as a foreign language in a military high school for boys. While there I met an American gentleman, also teaching English.

After three years in Hungary we moved to England, where I became an elementary teacher once again.  We were married the following year.  That same year we packed up and moved to Allegan, where my husband had a job as pastor of a church in town.  It was very difficult to get my British teaching qualifications recognized by the Michigan Department of Education, so I spent three years as a substitute teacher, and a teacher at the local Headstart Program.
When I found that Michigan had changed its laws regarding teachers from abroad, I applied for a teaching position in the Allegan Public Schools.

I was extremely happy to take the position of third grade teacher at Pine Trails in 2002 and then third grade at North Ward.
