Mrs. Swartzlander - 1st Grade

My name is Anne Swartzlander. This is my 35th year teaching at Dawson. I taught the Resource Room for 11 years before changing to First Grade. I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree is Special Education of the Mentally Impaired. I also have a Master's Degree in Learning Disabilities. I enjoy teaching 1st graders because the children are so eager to learn. Each day is exciting through the eyes of a first grader. It is also fun to see the changes that they go through, as they become reader, writers and thinkers.

I have two children. My son is a Senior at Michigan State, and my daughter is a graduate of Michigan State and Western Michigan and is employed as a Speech Pathologist. I live on Miner Lake with my husband. We enjoy boating and swimming in the summer and cross-country skiing and ice-skating in the winter.

Dawson Elementary is a wonderful place to teach!!
