Mr. Maxson's Class

My name is Randy Maxson. I am the teacher in this room, and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself, my staff, and my students.

I am in my eleventh year of teaching Special Education here at Dawson Elementary.
I am a graduate of Grand Valley State University, with a psychology major and an education minor. I am currently working toward a master's degree in Special Ed. Administration through G.V.S.U.

I live on the north side of Holland with my wife Robin, a 5th grade teacher in Hamilton, and two daughters, Kylie and Keagan. I also have a daughter Jen who is a special education teacher at Hamilton Middle School.  I’m very excited to tell you Jen and her husband Dave recently had a baby boy, so I am the proud Grandpa to Mason Derek Dobb!!!

When not in school my family loves outdoor activities. We enjoy all the activities the lakeshore provides including boating, biking, beaching, and our daily runs.

I feel very fortunate to have such a dedicated and caring pair of instructional assistants working with me in our room here at Dawson. Kim Carroll is my full time classroom instructional assistant. Diana Green is an IA who assists our students in both our room and in their respective regular ed. rooms. Both of my IA’s are dedicated, enthusiastic, and caring, striving to assist all students in reaching their full potential both in our room and within the regular ed. curriculum.
We have a great group of students in our room, with grade levels ranging from first through fifth grade. We are all very proud of the academic progress and achievements that we have achieved. We continue to become experienced readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists.
I am very proud to be a member of the Allegan Tiger staff. We have a dynamic, cohesive, and family centered staff who strive to have each student reach his/her full potential as a student and vital member of society.

You are invited to come and visit us, as we love to "show off" the many exciting things we have going on here in our room, and in Dawson as a whole. Feel free to call me at school or email me at rmaxson@alleganps.org with any questions or comments you may have. I look forward to hearing from you.
