Mr. Glasgow - Counselor

Mr. John Glasgow was born and raised in
Hastings, Michigan. He attended Western Michigan University (WMU), in
Kalamazoo, Michigan, graduating with a B.A. in psychology in 1986. He
worked for the next seven years with developmentally disabled adults in
Kalamazoo. He earned his teaching certification in 1994 and graduated in
1995 from WMU with an M.A. in school counseling. |
Mr. Glasgow (aka Mr. G) began working in 1995 at Dawson Elementary and West Ward Elementary Schools, in Allegan, as a counselor for at-risk students. He enjoys working with younger students emphasizing prevention and problem-solving skills. He decided to work with elementary aged children to help them learn "not to play with matches" rather than just helping them to "put out fires".
Mr. Glasgow makes his services available to all of the students at these two elementary buildings. He has tried hard to dispel the concept that seeking counseling services is taboo or a labeling experience. Through these efforts, most of the students feel free to seek him out when they need help.
