Career core elective for:

Engineering, Manufacturing and Technology (P)

                        Health Sciences (P)

AP Chemistry follows the topics in lecture and in laboratory of a typical first year college course in general chemistry.  Students will attain a depth of understanding of the fundamentals of chemistry, competence in answering chemical problems, an ability to express their ideas in writing and orally, and an ability to think clearly and logically.  The course will cover the chemical theories that are the foundation for all areas of chemistry.  Qualitative and quantitative laboratory work will be an essential component of the course.

Advanced Placement Physics C

Prerequisite:  Must be enrolled in or have completed Calculus and Physical Foundation

Grade(s):  11-12                        Trimesters:  2 or 3         Credit:  1 or 1 ½

Career core elective for:

Engineering, Manufacturing and Technology (P)

The C level physics advanced placement course usually forms the first steps for a college student majoring in engineering, the physical sciences, mathematics, and in some cases, medicine.  This course is paralleled by the student’s enrollment in a high school calculus course.  Calculus techniques are used frequently in derivations and, when appropriate, in problem solving as applied to physical analysis.  A variety of problems describing the physical world are presented.  Students enrolling for two trimesters of AP Physics will study the Mechanics portion of the course and review for half of the AP Physics C Exam.  Students enrolling for all three trimesters of AP Physics will study both the Mechanics portion and the Electricity & Magnetism portion and prepare for the whole exam.
